I’m back with a review after a long time. Why is real life so busy? It’s hard to be a hobby collector!
The Chuncheon restaurant I visited this time was already in July. No matter how far away a region is, I visit regularly because my family lives there.
When you come to Chuncheon, it has to be Dakgalbi, right? I was tired from playing in the water that day, so instead of going far, I was introduced to a local restaurant in the neighborhood.
The interior hall had about 7 tables, so it was cozy. But because the tables were large, it didn’t feel that small.
We ordered 3 servings of basic Dakgalbi. I was curious about the spicy Dakgalbi, but since there was someone who couldn’t handle spice, I didn’t even mention it. And since I was being treated, I had to eat what they bought. (I want to try the chicken innards someday too)
Clean griddle. Hygiene passed!
What makes this place a really great restaurant:
- It’s not plain water (I can’t remember if it was Hovenia dulcis tea or barley tea)
- They give you plum tea. For digestion, it has to be plum, right? Ready for overeating;
The basic side dishes include garlic, lettuce wraps, and Dongchimi (radish kimchi). It’s simple but feels complete. The owner watches and refills generously as soon as you’ve eaten more than half. The generosity is amazing~
The Dakgalbi is stir-fried skillfully. As I was taking pictures, they kept moving aside. It’s okay, owner…!!!! You can just do it…!!
The taste of the Dakgalbi was, as expected from a Chuncheon local restaurant, incredibly delicious. I was really hungry, but I don’t usually overeat even with normal food, but wrapped in lettuce, it went in endlessly. Honestly, I ate the most out of the three of us.
We couldn’t skip the fried rice, could we! Actually, everyone was very full, so we hesitated, but we had to try the taste! So we only ordered one cheese fried rice.
Chammi Dakgalbi
I tend to prefer basic fried rice over cheese, but it was delicious after a long time. The seasoning is just delicious, so both the Dakgalbi and the fried rice are delicious.
And I was disappointed that there was no kimchi (in the fried rice)~ but (was that it?) as if they heard me, they gave us fresh kimchi too…!! But this kimchi is absolutely the best ㅋ It looks like fresh kimchi, but it doesn’t taste like it at all, and it’s not too salty, and it has the exact fermented taste I like, so I devoured it.
For those who want to visit a real local restaurant in Chuncheon, not a common one that appears on Instagram and blogs, I highly recommend Chammi Dakgalbi!
