Barangswe Guesthouse in Seongsan, Jeju: The Perfect Blend of Small Parties and Ocean Views
Jeju-do Seogwipo Seongsan-eup 496 Hwanhaejangseong-ro
My first guesthouse experience during my trip to Jeju Island was at Barangswe Guesthouse, located in Seongsan.
I wanted a party guesthouse, but I was hesitant about overly crowded large-scale parties, so I visited this place based on a friend’s recommendation.
(If you contact them in advance, they can also pick you up from a nearby bus stop!)
This is the 1st-floor space with the counter. I received my room key here and went upstairs. When I arrived in the late afternoon, the party preparations were in full swing.
Spacious and Comfortable Dormitory Room
The 6-person dormitory room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious. Moreover, since I was the only one using it, I could stay even more comfortably. It seemed like other guests were using the twin rooms.
The bathroom, located right next to the entrance, was also spacious and satisfactory. The hot water was good, which was convenient.
Each bed is equipped with a pillow, blanket, and one towel. It was winter, so the room air was a bit chilly, but since it was spacious and empty, the warmth didn’t spread quickly. I was able to get an electric blanket from the staff. If you feel cold, try asking for one!
Perhaps because it was a women’s room, a full-length mirror and a vanity mirror were provided, which I found to be a thoughtful touch. However, there was only one hairdryer, so while it was convenient for me to use alone, it might require some waiting if multiple people need to use it.
Satisfying Party Food and Atmosphere
When I went down for the first party session, delicious food was already prepared. I had never been to a black pork restaurant in Jeju before, but the barbecue served here was truly the best. It was properly grilled barbecue, not boiled pork, which made it even more satisfying. Also, the mantis shrimp, which I tried for the first time, was much fresher than what I had elsewhere. You can trust the party food at Barangswe Guesthouse; it was more delicious than I expected.
After the first party ended, I took a short break on a sofa in a corner of the 1st floor while waiting for the second party.
For the second party, simple snacks like shaved ice, bananas, chips, and marshmallows for roasting were provided. Well-roasted marshmallows were a special treat.
Another guest ordered additional snacks, making the experience even richer.
Thanks to the owner and staff of Barangswe, I had a wonderful time throughout the party. Most importantly, it was the small-scale party I wanted, which made me even more satisfied. Looking at photos of large-scale parties made me feel overwhelmed, but here, there were about 15 people, and even fewer because it was a weekday. I highly recommend this place to those who want to enjoy a party but don’t want to be drained of energy.
Beautiful Morning Ocean View
Finally, I concluded my memories of Jeju by enjoying the beautiful morning ocean view.
