Waiting Experience

Previously, I went to wait in line at Haidi Lao…

The waiting time was around 4 hours, so I could never eat there and had to go to another restaurant.

This day was a weekday, so I was able to make a reservation in advance with Catch Table.

Jinju and I calculated our commute and applied for a spot on Catch Table around 5 PM!

(I was late applying because I was distracted;;)

Since we had plenty of time, we browsed nearby clothing stores, and when there was about 15 minutes left, we entered early.

Waiting Experience

Once inside, I felt like I waited another 30 minutes.

It must be a popular restaurant, as they have a good waiting area.

Beverages and Snacks

While waiting, I snacked on some drinks and snacks, and these snacks were really tasty… addictive…

Making an Order

As my turn was approaching, the staff informed me to place my order in advance.

I diligently selected my order through the app and entered just before 8 PM.

Store Interior

I was amazed at how spacious the store was.

Somewhere in here could be Lee Young-ji…

Types of Soups Tried

I ordered clear soup + tomato soup + mala soup + samgyetang…

This combination was probably the best choice….

I wondered why I ordered the clear soup, but it’s used for cleaning the ladle, haha.

The mala soup was spicier than expected, making it hard to keep eating, but when I added the tomato soup, it became a sweet and spicy mix.

I couldn’t stop picking at it…

And having some samgyetang as a palate cleanser was just right, haha.

Sauces and Beverages

I made some ☆Young-ji sauce☆ from the self-bar.

I really dislike peanut flavor, but why is this so good…?

I want to go again… yum.

Next time, I should try the Gunhee sauce…

Beverage Choice

I ordered cola, but then switched to unlimited drinks.

However, both of us were so full that we only had one each, haha.

But since it was only a 500-won difference, I think switching was better?

Chopstick Skills

I tried the chopstick rolling skill I’ve only seen in videos…

It was harder than I thought.

And when I rolled it and dipped it in the soup, it took a while to cook.

Eventually, I just started dropping it in to eat, haha.

Conclusion

After finishing everything, I added beef brisket and mushrooms, and this new noodle?

I’m not sure if it’s called New Jin noodles, but it was the tastiest among the noodles, so I added it.

It kind of tasted like vermicelli combined with sweet potato noodles, and it was chewy and delicious.

I usually used to just add the same ingredients when eating mala soup or mala stir-fried…

But I was happy to discover this delicious new ingredient…

It’s just great to go out with foodies.

If you’re going to Haidi Lao for the first time, definitely go with someone who knows how to eat so you can maximize the experience.

If you’re like me going alone, you might miss the waiting…

It’s located between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station, but the name of the restaurant is Haidi Lao Seocho Branch, so it was a bit hard to find, haha.

It seems too expensive for regular visits…

But I’ll definitely revisit once a quarter for a flex…
