Bongpo Meogeuri House

I went on a day trip to Sokcho with my family after a long time. There was a forecast of rain, but fortunately, the weather was good, so we were able to have a pleasant time. 😊 I’ll introduce you to a delicious restaurant that my parents confidently recommended, Bongpo Meogeuri House!

I was a little surprised by the enormous scale of Bongpo Meogeuri House, which I felt from the parking lot. The presence of the building in the distance was impressive. ^^;

There was a table management system, but it wasn’t in use, and we were immediately guided to the second floor. The first floor seemed to be used for group reservations. (It is said that about 80 group guests dined on the first floor in the past. 👀)

Various dried seafood products were also sold in one corner of the restaurant, and a comfortable waiting area was provided.

Bongpo Meogeuri House also offers takeout service.

Even though we visited at an odd time, around 11:30 AM, it was quite crowded with customers.

Ordered Menu: Assorted Sashimi

We ordered the assorted sashimi menu. It was listed as a menu for 4 people on Naver Place, but the portion was so generous that we understood why we were full.

Side Dishes and Seafood

The assorted mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and abalone porridge provided as basic side dishes were fresh and delicious.

I was impressed by the number of side dishes that were generously served. Famous restaurants have their reasons.

This wasn’t the end. Fried items and jeonbyeong (savory pancakes) were also served, and I was already starting to feel full. ;;

Fresh Raw Fish

The main menu, assorted sashimi, seemed to consist of flounder, rockfish, and sea bream. (It’s not certain if the red fish is sea bream.) The sashimi was sliced thickly, so it had a great chewy texture!

Spicy Fish Stew

The meal concluded with a spicy fish stew. At first, it seemed a bit bland, but after simmering for a long time, it became very delicious. It was not too salty and had a good, moderate seasoning. Good~~

I was so full that I ordered a cider to help with digestion.

Bongpo Meogeuri House, famous as a restaurant in Sokcho, lived up to its reputation when I visited in person. Thanks to the generous portions and abundant amount of food served on a full table, it was difficult for fewer than 4 people to finish everything. It’s a great place to visit for family outings as well as with friends. I ate very full and deliciously! 😆👍
