Apsan Big Valley House Apsan Main Branch is a chain restaurant exclusive to the Daegu region, so it’s best to visit the main branch to truly experience its flavor.

There were about two teams waiting when we visited, but we were able to get seated quickly without a long wait. It was nice that there was a waiting area outside, allowing for comfortable waiting. The parking space is a bit limited, but parking is possible if there’s a spot in the alley.

Menu and Ordering

There are various menu items available, and using the set menus offers good value for money. They also provide takeout service, which makes Daegu citizens enviable.

We ordered the 2-person set and added glass noodles as an extra. The spiciness level can be adjusted, and we chose level 3, which is the most popular. Since it was our first visit, we opted for the moderate level 3.

The food is not served immediately after cooking; it’s set up and then cooked by the customers. The staff sets a timer and instructs not to open the lid. When the timer rings, a staff member comes to stir it for you.

Along with the basic side dishes, the set includes buckwheat pancakes.

The buckwheat pancake was thin but served as more than one piece, and when cut, it was quite a generous portion.

After the galbi-jjim is cooked, bean sprouts are added to eat together. The gondre rice was truly delicious, and the level 3 spiciness was just right – perfectly spicy. It was so good that we wondered about level 4 and wanted to keep eating it. If it weren’t so far, we would have definitely gotten takeout.

There was also a nostalgic gachapon event, but unfortunately, we received Apollo, a retro candy, for 5th place. We enjoyed our dessert.

Overall Review

We highly recommend Apsan Big Valley House as the ultimate spicy galbi-jjim restaurant in Daegu. It was such a satisfying meal that we want to eat it again.
