Review of Maeuri Geumgok Branch

On a weekday evening, I visited ‘Maeuri Geumgok Branch’ craving something spicy. My sibling recommended it, and the meal exceeded my expectations.

The restaurant had about 8 tables. I debated between the Yangpun Galbijjim and Muk-eunji Galbijjim, but decided on the Yangpun Galbijjim, thinking the basic menu would be tastier. I ordered the 3-person set, choosing glass noodles as the additional ingredient.

Thanks to a friend who arrived early, the table was already set. The side dishes provided were radish kimchi and bean sprouts, which they said could be added to the galbijjim.

The rice balls and steamed eggs I ordered as side dishes also arrived. The rice balls were filling when eaten with pickled radish and mayonnaise. The steamed eggs were moist and soft, earning a thumbs-up.

Main Dish: Yangpun Galbijjim

Finally, the main dish, Yangpun Galbijjim, arrived. Honestly, I haven’t had many successful experiences eating out for spicy galbijjim, so I didn’t have high expectations. (I previously posted about Hyuhone’s Spicy Galbijjim near Haenggung-dong, which I enjoyed.)

However, the aroma wafting from ‘Maeuri Geumgok Branch’s’ galbijjim was beyond expectations. When I tasted it, the meat was tender and fell off the bone easily, and the flavor was excellent. The spiciness level was just right – pleasantly spicy without being difficult to eat. However, it might be a bit too spicy for those who can’t handle heat well.

I revisited and even tried the fried rice, which was also delicious. Personally, I found it even tastier than Hyuhone’s Spicy Galbijjim, which I had enjoyed previously. I’m very happy to have discovered such a wonderful restaurant in my neighborhood.
