During my trip to Jeju, I visited Sinhyegaraegi Bunsik, a restaurant featured on the ‘Ddanjip’ YouTube channel. It is located at Jeju Province<\/a> Jeju City<\/a> Gwideok-ri<\/a>13-gil 13 and is open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM. Please note that the break time is from 4 PM to 5 PM. The phone number is 064-757-3277.<\/p>\n

Despite arriving a little before 1 PM on a rainy weekday afternoon, the wait was shorter than expected, and we were able to get in after about 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

The interior of the restaurant looked just as familiar as it did on the ‘Ddanjip’ YouTube channel and was full of customers. I visited alone and was seated at a table for two. Since it was the seat right by the door, I thought a seat further inside might be more comfortable when it’s crowded.<\/p>\n

The self-serve side dish corner had four options: kimchi, salted squid, pickled perilla leaves, and pickled radish. I took just enough for myself, and each side dish was so delicious that I could have easily finished a bowl of rice with them. The salted squid and pickled perilla leaves were particularly good \u2013 not too salty and very addictive. I was also impressed that they sell the side dishes separately, and the prices seemed reasonable even compared to dedicated side dish shops. Water is available from a self-serve water dispenser.<\/p>\n

I ordered the signature dish, sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew). I had heard that the tuna jjigae was also good, but since it was my first visit, I chose the signature menu item. The sundubu jjigae that arrived after ordering was bubbling in its pot, emitting a mouth-watering aroma. The steam rising from the stew was captured in the photo.<\/p>\n

The sundubu jjigae at Sinhyegaraegi Bunsik had a unique flavor that I hadn’t tasted anywhere else. The texture and taste were distinctive, making it hard to tell if it was meat or tofu. I usually lower my expectations for famous restaurants, but this place exceeded them. It’s a taste I would definitely wait in line for again on my next visit to Jeju.<\/p>\n

Eating it with rice, topped with salted squid, was even more delicious. I don’t usually finish a whole bowl of rice, but here I scraped every last grain. If I hadn’t been full, I might have ordered another bowl of rice.<\/p>\n

Sinhyegaraegi Bunsik accepts bank transfers, and using a branch location is a good option if there’s a long wait. They say the branches use the same side dishes as the main restaurant, so there’s almost no difference in taste. I plan to try a branch next time to avoid the wait. It was a truly satisfying meal!<\/p>\n
