Western Mediterranean Cruise 9 nights and 11 days travel, Day 3
Since the distance to downtown Marseille is quite far, we took a shuttle bus from the pier!
The shuttle bus drops us right in front of Marseille Cathedral.
The above photo was taken before climbing the stairs (undergoing renovations).
The below photo is in front of the cathedral! 😊
Is this… France’s Marseille..?😮
Seeing famous Western tourist spots and buildings, I was overwhelmed by their enormous size~
Snap from a good spot to take pictures of the side 📷 The Galaxy ultra-wide is too intense!
It took less than 10 minutes to walk from Marseille Cathedral to the museum Vieille Charité!
Vieille Charité
Address: 2 Rue de la Charité, 13002 Marseille, France
The grandeur cannot be fully captured in the photos.. Visiting the museum is paid.
Due to our schedule, we only explored the outside and used the free restroom.
Here I am, looking tiny. And I thought I was being zoomed in on!
Les Petits Trains de Marseille
Address: 2 Quai du Port, 13002 Marseille, France
We took a tourist bus similar to an elephant train to get to Notre-Dame Cathedral!
Notre-Dame de la Garde
Address: Rue Fort du Sanctuaire, 13006 Marseille, France
A view taken from far below!
Honestly, the exterior looks similar to Marseille Cathedral, lol.
A shot in front of the golden statue of Mary, lol.
Feeling so excited visiting the souvenir shop that I didn’t take any pictures inside, haha.
I bought a magnet shaped like the Notre-Dame Cathedral!
With some time left until the next meeting time, I just sat down on the floor to rest 😎
The photo looks dry, but it was incredibly hot…
GLACIER BIO Le Metropole Vieux Port
Address: 2 Pl. Gabriel Péri, 13001 Marseille, France
Since I’m in Europe, I had to have gelato, haha.
Each with 2 flavors: from left to right, dark chocolate, mint, mango, and strawberry. The flavors were intense…
The dark chocolate wastoo rich and lacked sweetness, and the mint was a world apart from the mint chocolate I had in Korea, lol.
Is this what a mint chocolate hater feels like…? It’s kinda like that.
Still, I was high on travel vibes and it was fine.
Here, shops don’t usually turn on air conditioning, so the gelato melted a bit which was a shame, but is this how gelato is normally eaten?
Just getting used to it, haha.
After buying the ice cream, I used the free restroom.
The mirror was pretty, so I just took a photo.
La Tour de Pizz
Address: 12 Cr Jean Ballard, 13001 Marseille, France
Since I’m in Europe, I had to have pizza 222.
It has a Google Maps rating of 4.8.
There were about 7 types of pizzas, I think.
I ordered the gorgonzola and a basic mushroom pizza, not sure what it’s called.
It was the best pizza I’ve had recently and one slice was so big I was super full.
(Even when folded, it was nearly the size of my face)
I also ordered some bottled beer, and when I asked for recommendations, the person didn’t understand well, so I just got one of each type 😂
I was so satisfied with the pizza, but according to Google reviews, Italians seemed a bit upset about it, haha.
First time seeing flat peaches 🍑
While slowly heading back, I got a cute bottle opener from a souvenir shop!
This reminded me of pepper……🥺
Returned to the place where the shuttle bus dropped us earlier.
In hindsight, Marseille Cathedral’s interior was free to enter; I should have taken a look inside!!!
After returning by boat, I quickly washed up and went out to enjoy the dance program, haha! After filming the video, I danced together, too!
They taught us even the basic steps, so it was easy and fun.
Time for a cruise internal tour with the guide.
This was optional but surprisingly not many people showed up.
To really enjoy it, you need to know where everything is, so I participated!!
(The photo above is a mini museum onboard the cruise.)
And we played around at the plaza we passed earlier.
The cruise guide sneaked off in the middle, haha!
Teppanyaki
On the second day of the cruise, dinner was pre-arranged at a paid Japanese restaurant provided by Lotte Tourism consisting of teppanyaki.
They even printed out a menu in translation for us to choose beforehand!
Pre-course and main ingredients!
They must have sprinkled water because the look was stunning; I had to take a picture, haha.
Each teppanyaki grill is a bit different but eventually all guests became one with the oil and smoke 🤟😎🤟
It was very loud and fun, and I couldn’t capture it on video, haha.
They even had a game where they tossed eggs for fried rice, which was hilarious.
It’s simple, but why is it so funny;
The shrimp was the tastiest among the mains (in the video).
Though I’m not really a fan of Japanese cuisine, the beef and squid were too salty…
There were no chicken eaters, so I didn’t get to try it, haha.
But I finished the shrimp without leaving any! 🦐👍
However, the dessert was excessively sweet, haha.
We set a maximum spending limit of 50 euros per person each day! Just decided to have fun.
Since it was my first time at a casino, I was nervous and changed 10 euros for 5 bills, haha!
There were so many types of slot machines, but I didn’t know the rules, so I ended up just pressing buttons 😅.
On Costa Smeralda, I caught a glimpse of a show in the Coliseum Lounge while heading to see another performance.
I came in halfway through and didn’t know what it was about, but to be honest…
Out of all the performances, I only recognized ‘Thriller,’ but I couldn’t upload that video because it was too long, haha.
However, during the one-hour show, one team quickly changed outfits while performing… It was incredibly impressive! 👍
