A Comfort for Teenage Boys and Girls, by Heo Seung-hee
Sometimes it feels like we’re at a dead end.
It seems both ways are blocked…
Those who look on, and the person involved, appear small and pitiful.
It feels lonely…
If only we could take a step back and look around the space behind us
We might realize there is another way…
What looks like a wall may not be a wall at all…
And that there is someone waiting to reach out at any time…
However, I believe that more time and courage are needed for that.
Not yet…
Finding my color is a good thing.
However, revealing only my color too much signifies the immaturity of adolescence.
I hope you learn how to blend in with the background while not losing yourself.
What I want to say to children going through adolescence
Was this, but suddenly I realize that I am still within adolescence myself.
In October 2015, I brought over two pieces from artist Heo Seung-hee’s exhibition titled [Adolescent Boy].
When our children are growing up, we see their chaotic feelings,
And we can feel the hearts of the parents reaching out to them.
