Visit Review
Review of a makchang restaurant I went to during my trip to Daegu!
I originally planned to go to a famous place in the makchang alley, but
the reviews were too mixed, and there were some mentions of a strong pig smell.
So I worked hard to search and ended up at Yeongnam Makchang Jongno Branch…
I’m quite sensitive to meat smells, so I absolutely cannot tolerate them.
Restaurant Atmosphere

Fortunately, there was no wait when I entered.
The photo of the hall was taken after we finished eating, so there’s not many people in it.
Funny Posters
ㅋㅋㅋ The posters were really funny,
You could feel that the owner or staff really care about the place;;;
(Owner, this doesn’t need to be covered..?)
Menu and Events

There was also a receipt review event, but
I wasn’t particularly interested in Eclipse, so I passed.
You can also have unlimited ramen, which was awesome 👍
When it got greasy, a bite of ramen was perfect.
Yeongnam Makchang Jongno Branch
First, I ordered 2 servings of pork makchang.
The portion on the plate looks smaller because I put it on the grill.
Originally, there was quite a lot.
And I really liked that the insides of the makchang were very white and clean!
Taste and Quality
It was crispy and savory when grilled, absolutely delicious.
There was no pig smell at all,
This might have been the best pork makchang I’ve ever had.
I thought the famous chain Taeyoung Saengmakchang was decent,
but compared to that, this one had fatter meat,
And while the fat usually makes it shrink when grilled,
here it still remained pretty large, which made it easy to eat.
Owner, can I have a ramen?
I made it myself.
Why did I take this picture?
Spicy Chicken Feet
I also ordered a serving of spicy chicken feet.
There’s a downside of having to grill it yourself,
but at 12,000 won for 180g, it’s a very reasonable price!
The spiciness wasn’t as intense as I thought.
“Is this really spicy chicken feet?” I thought (maybe, I don’t remember that well).
But why don’t I have a photo of the chapagetti?
As I was standing in front of the ramen machine to make the chapagetti,
A staff member came over and told me to enjoy my meal while they make it for me. 😭
The owners were super friendly, and the place was great.
(Of course, it was delicious too.)
If I get to visit Daegu again, or if a friend asks me to recommend a makchang place,
I would absolutely recommend Yeongnam Makchang Jongno Branch!
